Character Descriptions

Please post your character descriptions as comments to this post.

Also, please describe your anchors. I will be using these descriptions when trying to incorporate your anchors into the story.

4 comments:

  1. Ava Bordeu, the Duchess of Thirst - Ava is medium height, and has a somewhat rugged appearance but not terribly unattractive. Her brown hair is often worn in a ponytail. She usually dresses for hot, dry weather regardless of the conditions and her immediate surroundings tend to adjust accordingly, leaving the area around her dry, even in a rain storm. She carries an old horn-shaped leather canteen at her side at all times.

Before enNoblement Ava spent most of her adult life working as an archeologist in Egypt. She became rather close with one of the members of her team, Janus Novotny, and eventually married him. Janus became Ava's first anchor after enNoblement. Also through the course of her work she had the displeasure of dealing with a local tomb raiding crew that severely damaged what would have been her most prized find, an intact shrine to the goddess Satis, the deification of the flooding of the Nile, in a hidden chamber of one of the pharaohs tombs. The leader of the raiding crew Ava came to find, was a man by the name of Nebi Abusir. She never forgot that name, and soon after her enNoblement she tracked him down, making him her second anchor.

During enNoblement Ava's body did not mesh well with the Imperator shard (giving her a zero aspect) but her mind meshed quite well with Thirst, and she commands a masterful control over her domain. Partly through her own personality, and partly from her domain's influence, the enNobled Ava has chosen to follow the Code of Light and has become more driven than she ever was before enNoblement, thirsting as only Thirst can to achieve her goals.

  2. Jordan Karsh, the Pawn of Deserts and True King of Locus Sulaya - Jordan is is a tall and thin Caucasian man. He's 6'3" and 160 lbs. He is completely bald and clean shaven. He wears the plain, long, white robe-like garment that many Arabian men wear in the desert. On his right hand he wears a stone ring.

Before he was enNobled, Jordan was an architect. His specialty was in designing places of worship. As a child, Jordan attended a Catholic boarding school in Rome. There he met both of his Anchors. Nalim Hassad, the oldest son of a rich and wealthy family that controlled a large oil reservoir in Saudi Arabia, was Jordan's room mate and best friend. Sister Jude was a young nun in her mid 20's when Nalim and Jordan attended the school. She was like an older sister to the two boys as well as one of their instructors. She taught them Latin, French, fencing, and archery. Since school she has remained a source of spiritual guidance in Jordan's life.

During his enNoblement, Jordan realized his true calling. It was not to shape the world, but to shape the souls of mankind. He would use the desert itself to help cleanse the human soul and scour away doubt and guilt. He sees his role in the chancel to be the spiritual guide of the citizens and to help them reach enlightenment. Though normally a pacifist, Jordan is not above scouring way the mortal shells of a soul who is unable or unwilling to change; thus allowing the soul to reincarnate.

  3. Reynaud Typhlos the Sunfire, Marchessa of Blindness and Radiant of Locus Sulaya gives the impression of being an aristocrat at the height of his power. Though balding and short, he remains a striking figure. The hair on the sides of his head is blindingly white and he can either be found in loose fitting white robes or a suit. He is the son of two Greek immigrants to the United States. Reynaud was pushed at a young age to pursue a career in business, though most of his attention was spent in study of ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. He assimilated as much of the Old world into his life as his parents wanted him to assimilate of the New.

He was ashamed of his parent's blind ambitions for him but Reynaud took no delight in being poor. His parents scraped together what money they had to send him to college. He was a good student, studying Philosophy in his undergraduate studies and winning a scholarship to Law School. He eventually became a prosecuting attorney. Reynaud enjoyed the money and enjoyed dressing nicely, although at times he felt that he betrayed a calling more suited to him. He became more and more distanced from his parents after school. He has not contacted them in years and it is possible they are deceased. While practicing he remained relatively active with the local university in Philosophical affairs/meetings/debates etc, although he was unable to put the majority of his time into it.

Dr. Michael Jameson is one of the only people Reynaud considers a true friend. While Reynaud and the Doctor have philosophical disagreements, (Reynaud has a Platonic view of the world, Jameson has views closer to that of Nietzsche) Reynaud can not find fault with the man's actions in light of his beliefs. Always willing to argue a point, Reynaud has spent many late evenings at Jameson's house debating some of the finer points of philosophy.

Pastor Thompson would often participate in the religious debates, defending Christianity against someone who was brought in to argue for an Atheistic view. Initially seeing Pastor Thompson as a friend good for a debate, time took it's toll on the relationship. The Pastor would admit to Reynaud in private his misgivings that he had about his Faith. The disparity between the Pastor's private admissions and public preaching slowly led Reynaud to a quiet hatred, which he tried to suppress and which the Pastor remained blind to.

Judge Andrews was always corrupt and Reynaud hated him with a passion. He hated having to smile and shake the Judge's hand when he knew some black deal had just gone on in Andrews' chambers. He never used the Judge but he also never crossed him. The Judge could not help becoming fond of Reynaud, who was always so serious and polite, even to the point of offering Reynaud favours (which would always be politely declined). Unaware of Reynaud's seething hatred, the Judge only grew more fond of Reynaud as time passed, while Typhlos's anger grew darker.

Rene Madlyn would be the other person that Reynaud considered a true friend. Rene is a professor of anthropology at the local university. She is one of the few people that Reynaud talks to in which the conversation does not become a debate. When they speak of things together, it's in mutual delight or appreciation and rarely does argument ensue (if they've argued or disagreed, they no longer remember it). They became lovers after years of friendship, though they do not really make their status public.

Taking a break from his practice, Reynaud decided to pay a visit to Greece, Egypt and other locations of antiquity. While at a pyramid in Egypt, he stumbled across a man destroying an ancient statue. First attempting to lie his way out of the situation, the man threw something like poison or acid in Reynaud's face, blinding him, and a half second later Reynaud felt a dagger stab into his chest.

For a time, Reynaud knew nothing but darkness. He spent an eternity falling, slipping through sands before he once again felt consciousness ebb in.

Reynaud knew. He knew before Locus Sulaya spoke a word to him. The power that settled into him felt like a familiar companion and though blinded, he felt as if for the first time he might truly be seeing. He had learned some lessons about Truth in his life.

He knew the power he had - he had earned it and he would use it to do what he knew was right. The abuse of knowledge, the weakness of action, he would no longer allow.

  4. Meredith Millefiori is mere a Pawn of Glass and a Citizen of her realm. Her candle burns neither brightly nor dimly. She is, however, accounted as one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her jewelry sparkles with the beauty of heaven and her flowing dresses and skirts capture and reflect colors only seen in a rainbow. She moves with an easy grace. She always carries two glass razor sharp glass daggers.

Prior to her becoming a Noble she owned and ran a world spanning construction corporation. She has had a hand in the creation of major sky scrapers and other glassworks. She wished to have the world reflect true beauty. All of her buildings are covered in windows and typically have sky lights so those on the tope floors can witness the beauty of the Heavens.
She was chosen by Suyala when he thrust the shard of glass into her heart. She could then feel glass and knew when it was threatened. Despite her best attempts glass refused her call. She instead felt within her. The weakness of humanity was cut from her when the shard was imbedded. She has surpassed the pinnacle of human ability. However, glass would not answer her call. Suyala knew she would need more than mortal powers to survive and aid in carrying out justice.

Suyala blessed Meredith with two gifts from his birth and commanded two from her domain. He took her to the place of his birth and had her gaze the golden yellow glass. She was to examine glass until she understood the miracle of the angel’s creation. After enlightenment, she caught a glimpse of Heaven and knew her place in the order. She was blessed with justice’s lightening and the ability to reflect the beauty of Heaven around her. Since it is not possible for mortals or even most powers to comprehend Heaven’s beauty they see nothing cloaked in the beauty. Those who can witnesses it are lost in rapture and can not observe the lesser beauty. Suyala had not expected glass to recoil from her calls and so too blessed her with the ability to see what the glass sees and heed her calls for change. Meredith’s beautiful image is forever held by the glass in the crater as a price for it listening to her. Suyala has demanded a price for the gifts as well. She is required to maintain the walls and structures of the Chancel.

With her new powers she claimed three anchors. Her first is a man who makes her works glisten. He allows for her domain perform its true function. Her second she hates, he is tasked with destroying her greatest works. He tries to collapse the greatest representations of her domain. Her third and final anchor was born in the shadows. Meredith saw his potential. He has the spirits of the greatest shinobi in him. He now knows how to cleanse the world using daggers akin to hers.

She like her master has pledged herself to cause of Heaven. She has glimpsed its glory for but a moment. That moment would have destroyed a lesser mind. Filled with Heaven’s beauty she now seeks to root out transgressors and other evils which infest the Ygg.
